the extended Rings

I may not be a year wiser, but at any rate tomorrow I will be a year older.
My parents got me a splendid birthday gift: The Return of the King Extended Edition complete soundtrack, which has many pieces that got left out of the official soundtrack CD in 2003, such as the charge of the Rohirrim at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, the breaking of Saruman's staff, Eowyn's confrontation with the Lord of the Nazgul, and the triumphant Fellowship leitmotif at the Black Gate. Four CDs of music, complete with 48 pages of liner notes.
Excellent indeed. It's like a Wagner opera without the creepy Nietzschean overtones.
