who will claim the imperium?

I hear from reliable sources that the Iowa caucuses are tomorrow. The insane trainwreck of the 2008 presidential campaign can now commence in full!
So, who do you think will be the next President? Who do you want to be the next President?
Alas, the two are often mutually exclusive. In truth, I don't think it really matters very much; I suspect we've crossed that invisible line from Republic to Principate at some point in the last fifty years. I think the office of the President has far too much power, and whoever claims the Presidency is far more likely to add to its powers than to reduce them to a more sensible level.
But I could just be a crank. What do you think?
