Yesterday, alas, my main blog The Book of Screed collapsed into a smoking pile of rubble. It was The End. There was no recovering, no rebuilding. The old blog had passed away. This was just vexing to no end, because after a year of experimentation I had finally gotten it just the way I wanted, and all my Sword & Sorceress 22 author interviews were conveniently archived there.

All gone now.

But every Apocalypse is, in the end, a new beginning. The old world will pass away, but a new one will arise from its ashes. Narsil shattered in the battle against Sauron, but the elven-smiths of Rivendell forged Anduril from its shards. Microsoft crushed Netscape to dust beneath its heel, but lo! from the wreckage sprang Mozilla Firefox to challenge Internet Explorer. And like these worthy predecessors, The Book of Screed has been reborn:

Behold its new incarnation!

I learned a bit more about PHP and MySQL from the experience, and this gave me the opportunity to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress. Some work needs to be done yet; I've got to redo the permanent pages and tweak with the layout a bit more. Also, my index page at jonathanmoeller.com will have to be redone yet again, since none of the links match up anymore, which will make the sixth (!) version of jonathanmoeller.com since 2004. And I'll need to repost some of my better pieces once things get under control.

But it's good to have the blog back up. This corner of the Internet may be obscure and lightly traveled, but it's mine, by gum.
