subverting NaNoWriMo

Yes, it's November, and that means it's National Novel Writing Month, when countless writers across the nation pledge to write 50,000 words of a novel before December 1st.* Write hard, NaNoWriMo writers!
Myself, I started a new short story, "Nor Will Their Fires Be Quenched". It's sf/horror, and I think it'll be about 6000 words.
Because, come on, I already wrote a dang novel this year.
