Some good news. I sold my short story "Creed" to the Sword Review, the same place that bought "Owl and the Queen of Summer" a few months back.
This pretty cool, because it's the first sale of 2007, and only the second time I've made a repeat sale to a market. I want repeat business; I just have a hard time getting it.
In the realm of writing new fiction, I finally finished the "Bride of the Pirate King" story I was working on, and thought up a far superior title:
The Call of Kuazataml
A Lovecraftian title, which reflects some of the story's Lovecraftian themes, which suits me just fine. But it's only 9,200 words long, and it took a month to write. A month! I'll have to start another novel soon, if only to rebuild my crumbling self-discipline.
The novel will wait, though, because first I want to edit "Dark Master" and "The Call of Kuazataml". "Dark Master" is a remarkably grisly story, but I think it works. After the editing's done, I have another novella planned; "Knight of Sorrows". Another twisted love story.
But that's okay, because twisted love stories are the only fun kind of love story to write.
