malfunction

Is it just me, or has nothing been working right lately?
I refer to things technological, of course. In the past few days I've opened up no fewer than four new computer parts, and every single one of them was defective. Defective! New! Out of the box!
So much for the wonders of globalization.
Plus, my water got turned off. Some yahoo on the other end of the building left for a month without turning on his heat, and apparently was unaware of the fact that this is Minnesota, and it it's winter, and that sometimes it's been known to get really cold in Minnesota in the winter.
So his pipes blew up. Dramatically.
I'd say the country's going to hell in a handbasket, but I think you'd need some actual working parts to get there.
Still, on the up side, I got a 160 GB hard drive for very cheap, and it actually works! Plus, I finished writing "Dark Master", and now I'm writing "Knight of Sworn Shadows".
