It. Is. Not. Foxfire!
It is de rigueur for people knowledgeable about the English language to have some sort of pet peeve that, while technically correct, nevertheless manages to make them look pompous. Dangling prepositions are a common one. A conversation will be rolling along, and someone will say something like "Where'd you get that shirt from?", and then the peeve-holder will stand up and say "No! You mean to say 'From where did you get that shirt?'", and everyone will stare, and the conversation will come to a grinding halt.

Nevertheless, the peeve-holder will bask in the radiance of proper grammar.

I am pleased to say that I have acquired a pet peeve.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Mozilla Firefox browser is the most successful open-source web browser in the world, a product that has successfully challenged Microsoft's iron grip on the Internet. It is called Mozilla Firefox. Or simply Firefox.

It is not called Foxfire.

Heaven knows why, but it sets my teeth on edge. I hear it frequently, and every single time I have to restrain myself from standing up and shouting "It's Firefox! Firefox!". Apparently I'm not the only only; the website foxfire.com consists of a link that redirects people to the proper Firefox site.

Not Foxfire. Firefox. I don't know where people get these ideas from.

I agree. I really don't understand where the 'foxfire' thing comes from. To counteract it, whenever I hear something web browser-ish called foxfire I ask: "Do you mean Firefox?"
response: "I don't know"
me: "Oh, then you probably are talking about Firefox, the web browser. Foxfire is something totally different, I'm not sure what, but it's pretty weird."

This generally gets your more conservative individuals to work really hard to avoid saying foxfire (presumably because of the implication that the word means something they would rather not be referring to - which could be true, who wants to be talking about bioluminescence of fungi?).
