words to dread
If you fix computers for a living, eventually you'll come to dread the following sentence:

"My (father/stepfather/brother/husband/boyfriend) took a look at it, and he thinks he knows what's wrong."

Uh-huh.

Of course, this isn't quite as bad as:

"My (father/stepfather/brother/husband/boyfriend) decided to fix it, so he got his drill, some wire, and a drum of motor oil..."

And, yes, I'm aware this sounds like gender stereotyping. However. I've noticed women take a different approach to this sort of thing. They'll say:

"This is my (husband's/son's/brother's) computer. Fix it at once!"

See? Much more efficient.
