Sword & Sorceress 22 interviews: the Catherine Mintz edition
We are pleased to present a short interview with Catherine Mintz. Catherine is the author of numerous short stories, and wrote "The Decisive Princess" for Sword & Sorceress 22.
1.) Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a cat-loving person who is horribly allergic to cats. Most of the rest is on my website and blogs.
2.) What made you take up writing?
I was unaware there was a choice. Getting published, of course, is a different matter entirely.
3.) Tell us about your S&S 22 story "The Decisive Princess".
It's a take-off on a much older and very well known story, which assumes the main character has the wits and skills her father gave her.
4.) Can you share a teaser paragraph from "The Decisive Princess"?
Let us begin at the beginning:
"There was once a barbaric king, who, aspiring to be well-thought-of by his more civilized neighbors -- the source of goods which the king resold at an extraordinary markup further north -- instituted a novel method for dealing with those guilty of crimes against the state. He combined elements of southern law with his own thoughts in such a way that he could, with pride, show the resulting spectacle to envoys. In this manner he provided both an entertainment and a not-too-subtle assurance that he was under their sway, something that he had no intention of allowing to happen."

(Full details of the interviews can be found here, and the complete series can be found here.)
