but I don't like world-building!
Started a new story today, "Gate to Glory", a sort of combined sword-and-sorcery/steampunk piece.

Of late, I find that most of my sword-and-sorcery pieces want to take place in the same setting. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, and I've gotten less fond of world-building. Still, it makes new stories easier, since I don't have to reinvent the wheel every time, and it's easier to think up new story ideas, since the undeveloped aspects of that world lend themselves to new ideas. Still, if I have a good idea that goes against continuity, well...continuity can eat my dust.

No blogging or writing until Monday or Tuesday, I think, since I have many miles to travel, state lines to cross, that sort of thing.

It seems good to me. As much as I love world-building there is so much of it I can make in a given time. The stories would give you even more background to the setting. ^-^

This is so. I suspect that's why I find it easier these days to write stories sent in the modern world, rather than in a constructed fantasy world.

Of course, the 21st century is simultaneously weirder, more wonderful, and more horrifying than anything I could dream up, so that helps.
